Antony Accordino

Antony Accordino B Pharm, MPS, MBA is the Director of Compounding on Oxford. He was the first member of the Professional Compounding Chemists of America (PCCA) in Western Australia as well as having the first compounding-only pharmacy. This now allows him to concentrate on the art and science of tailoring dose forms to meet each patient's requirements. His background is one of extensive hospital experience at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children (PMH) the pediatric teaching hospital in Western Australia. During his time at PMH he was one of the main drivers for that institution obtaining a licence from the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) to manufacture pharmaceuticals, this has set this pharmacy department as unique amongst Australian hospitals. This manufacturing and quality control expertise from having worked within a TGA licenced facility along with his membership of PCCA an internationally recognised supplier of quality raw materials, devices and equipment allows him a greater insight into the efficient operation of a compounding practice. He also possesses extensive formulation experience and many over the counter products on the shelves of retail pharmacies have been researched and developed by him. He is continuously engaged as a consultant in product development and keeps abreast of trends by attending seminars and the continual reading of texts and scanning of the pharmaceutical and medical literature. He maintains subscriptions to many electronic bookshelves that act as an extensive reference library, allowing him to research and answer enquiries from both patients and the medical profession.
